The cost of building very much depends on the location. In the Bay Area, where labor and materials are both more expensive and building codes and inspectors are stricter, luxury construction starts at about $350 per square foot. That does not include the price of land.

Location determines price per SF in our great State,right down to the zip code and neighborhood. One Zip code may be $225 SF,and accross the street in Beverly Hills,its $450 a SF.

Home building vs.selling prices don’t even come close,but the site gives you an economical demographic of whether its high end homes,or average market priced homes. thank god we don’t live in california, some of those prices are crazy.

on the east cost the average price per sq ft is between $185 to $295 again that does not include land.
